Weekend in Colico in Autumn and Winter
We suggest a suggestive itinerary for a weekend among the sights of Colico
Colico is well known by tourists in the Summer, for water sports, for the boat along the lake and for the walks on the lakeside that are a must! But did you know that also in Autumn and Winter, Colico offers beautiful colours, panoramic views and a lot of hiking trips?All this will amaze you!!

FIRST DAY
You can start your day with an amazing breakfast in a Cafe or a bakery in the centre of Colico. After that you can reach Piona Abbey, by foot if you are keen on trekking, following the hiking path number 7 of CAI. Arrived at destination you will be welcomed by the Cistercian monks, who keep alive the tradition of this magic place. The Abbey is open every day and you have the possibility of buying tipical products made by the monks. You can also visit the cloister which preserves the Cippo of Agrippino, the reference point of the whole monastic complex.
For lunch you can go to a famous restaurant near the Abbey in order to discover our tipical dishes. During the afternoon you can relax and admire the wonderful landscape around you. Arrived in Piazza Garibaldi, you can have a walk on the lakeside while admiring the top of Monte Legnone . From this point is possible to admire a beautiful and magical sunset.
SECOND DAY
For a day immersed in the nature we propose you an easy path that from the point of Acqua alla Fevra goes until Monti di Rusico, where you will find a beautiful plateau with numerous huts and a small fountain. Then you go down until the village of Fontanedo passing by the Curch of Sant’Elena, until the Medioeval Tower of Fontanedo. From the tower you will have a magic view of our lake. Going down you will reach a pic-nic area, the starting point of our walk in the mountains and you can decide in which restaurant to eat and taste the local dishes.
If you are in Colico during the Autumn season you can partecipate at “Autunno Lago, rassegna enogastronomica”. During this event you will taste different menus created by the adhering restaurants. In these menus you will find tipical and gourmet dishes of our territory.
You can spend the rest of the day on the main Road of Colico, where you will find little shops and buy some souvenirs. You can conclude your weekend having an aperitivo on the lakeside or eating fish in one of our restaurants.
